I know that I don't have a lot of time to save Lauren. It's already getting dark out by the time I get to my father's house. The neighborhood is quiet and I feel incredibly lonely. I also don't have a lot of time before people start to realize that I'm not where I'm supposed to be, if they haven't already figured it out. It would kill me to know that they were worrying about me, but it's worse to know that Lauren is in there with my father and Rick. Who knows what they could be doing to her?! God, the thought makes my skin boil and my head spin. I run down the street and don't stop until I reach the front door. Here goes nothing.

                Diiing.

My father answers the door and a quick grin is plastered to his face. "Well, well, well I presume you received our note?" He asks, opening the door. I nod curtly and step inside. "I am also going to presume that you do not have the girl?" I shake my head and he nods, then slaps me. "We gave you simple instructions! You dumb little shit."

"Keith get in here before someone sees something you idiot!" I hear Rick scream from inside the house. My father grabs me by the shoulder and drags me into the house, slamming the door behind him. I almost lose my footing but I manage to stay upright as he drags me through the house and to the office. He finds the rope and I struggle to get out of his grip but he punches me so hard in the face that I see spots and sink to my knees. He kicks me in the stomach and I double over in pain, the fight gone from my body. He manages to tie up my feet and takes Jane's handcuffs and secures them to my wrists. He kicks me in the side again before leaving me on the floor, coughing and gasping for air.

A few minutes later he returns with Rick. "You said that if you got Jane, you would let Lauren go. Take me instead of Jane and let Lauren go, please." I beg. They both start to laugh.

"What makes you think that you would be a replacement for her?" Rick sneers.

"Because I'm fresh, I haven't been beaten by you, I'm not scared of you."

"Oh you aren't scared of us? Really?" I receive multiple kicks in my side again as well as hits to my face. "That won't be true when we're done with you. You'll be crying for your mommy by the end of the day."

I see my father tense up at Rick's last comment. He hits Rick but doesn't say anything about it and neither does Rick. Instead, he disappears and returns a moment later with an unconscious Lauren. I gasp when I see a large bruise on her cheek. "You assholes! How could you do that to such a little girl?!" Luckily, other than her face, she doesn't seem too badly injured. Her arms have a few bruises on them from being held tightly but I don't see any cuts or torn clothing. "Let her go. Please, I'll do anything. Just let her go." I plead.

Rick cackles and lets her go, her body falls limply to the floor with a soft thud. "Lauren!" I cry. I try to move closer to her but it hurts too much to move. My father pushes me back against the wall, sending pain through my body and bringing me farther from Lauren. I clench my teeth together until the pain dulls.

"Still not afraid?" My father taunts.

"Just disgusted." I hiss. For that I get another slap across the face.

My cheek burns and my body hurts but being kicked repeatedly, but seeing Lauren slumped on the ground makes me want to fight. I try to figure out any way to take control of the situation but things seem pretty hopeless. I'm handcuffed on the ground, I feel dizzy simply picking my head up. I'd have to somehow drag Lauren out with me and in the process somehow overpower two grown men.
