In The End

Magkahawak kamay sila Geoff at Adela'ng lumabas ng restaurant. Hinigpitan pa ni Geoff ang pagkahawak nya sa kamay ng kanyang nobya habang hinihintay nila ang valet na kuhanin ang sasakyan nila. Tahimik lang si Adela'ng nakatayo sa tabi nya kaya hindi nya pinalampas na tanungin kung pagod na ito. Hindi pa kasi tapos ang gabing iyon; may nakasunod pa syang plano para s kanilang special Valentine's day date. He squeezed her hand para makuha ang atensyon nito.

"You okay? Pagod ka na ba, baby?"

Adela looked up at her boyfriend's handsome face. Nakita nya ang pagkunot ng noo nito at nawala ng konti ang pagkabigo nya. Wala naman talagang kasalanan si Geoff, sa totoo lang. Sya lang naman ang nagpadala sa mga sinabi ni Lilian na magpopropose na sa kanya ang nobyo nya. Sya ang nag-expect, sya ang nag-assume. "I'm okay," she smiled a small smile at him.

"Pagod ka na ba?" Geoff repeated.

"Hindi pa naman. Bakit?"

"May malapit kasi na bar dito at meron special acoustic Valentine's day concert doon. I planned for us to go," he turned to face her. "I was hoping we could go slow dancing. I see nothing wrong with holding you close to me all night while listening to romantic songs, don't you?"

"I think it's a good idea, baby," she looked up at him. "Alam mo naman na mahilig ako sa mga romantic songs." Kahit walang proposal na magaganap, she was determined not to ruin her date with her boyfriend. They were together, and they were in love, and that was all that mattered.

"Okay, let's go?"

The valet pulled the car up to the curb, and Geoff opened the door for his lady love para makapasok na ito sa loob. He drove them to the bar that he was talking about and they had a table reserved for them at the very front by the edge of the dancefloor. The show was just about to start when they arrived. The first few songs they just listened, but after the fourth song, Geoff stood up and offered a hand to Adela. She gladly took it and allowed him to guide her to the middle of the dance floor. She instinctively rested her head on his shoulder, her arms wrapping around his waist. One of his arms were around her waist while the other played with her hair, his lips dropping soft kisses on the top of her head every now and then. She sighed and hugged him even closer to her.

"I love you," he said loud and clear for her to hear. "I love you so much. Buti na lang at binigyan mo ko ng second chance."

"How could I not give you a second chance?" she giggled. "Nakakaawa ka na kasi."

He pinched her nose playfully. "You better be joking, babe."

"I was joking!" she looked up at him. "I love you, too. And it wasn't only you who deserved a second chance. We both deserved a second chance, don't you think?"

"Buti na lang napakabait at napaka understanding ng girlfriend ko," he smiled at her. "Seryoso, Ada. Maraming salamat sa second chance natin."

She surprised him by leaning up and giving him a peck on the lips. They continued dancing for a little while longer, pero nung nag break ang band ay umupo na lang ulit sila sa upuan nila. He ordered two red wines from the waiter at nagkwentuhan na lang sila habang hinihintay ang inorder nilang mga inumin. Ng dumating ang wine nila ay tinaas ni Adela ang kanyang baso.

"To us!" she said happily.

Geoff smiled back and reached for his glass pero natabig nya ito at natapon sa palda ng damit ni Adela. Napatayo si Adela sa gulat at kumuha ng table napkins si Geoff para punasan ang damit ng kanyang kasintahan.

"Baby, I am so sorry! Ang clumsy ko."

"It's okay, baby, pero just help me wipe it off please. Ayokong masira ang damit ko," she said a bit worriedly.
