The differences between seeds in the dark and seeds in the light

 

Hello. My name is Anthony Delgado. This Lab report is about an experiment with plants. I’m going to test if the enviroment the seeds grow in have an effect on it’s growth. My research question is: Does the amount of light affect the growth of a plant?

 

I expect that the seeds in the dark grow different than the seeds in the light, because plants need sunlight for their photosynthesis, the way they get their food.

 

You need: - some cotton wool

- a plastic Petri-dish

 - 10 seeds of garden cress

 - plastic-foil

 - some water (from tap)

 - permanent marker

 - a dark box

 

What to do: Put some cotton wool in the Petri-dish and make it wet with water – write your name and light/dark (follow instructions) on the Petri-dish with a permanent marker. Distribute 10 seeds of garden-cress evenly over the cotton wool.

The results show how the seeds in the dark grew compared to the seeds in the light. The results are a bit different than i expected them to be. Suprisingly, some of the dark seeds grew very tall.

 Some things went wrong. For example, when i was measuring the plants, it sometime slipped under the ruler. I think that if i did the experiment again, it would get slightly different results.

For next time, i need to make sure everything is going right.
