My spirit was lost
in the stars
dreaming of us,
how I thought we’d go far
There was a song, so sweet—
a tuneful bliss
playing in my mind
whenever our lips met in a kiss.
A cloud of love
raining down
The smile, a cover;
my heart’s a frown.
Your lips were black
marked with lies
They healed the holes of truth
so that I never cried.
I almost loved you,
a fight I nearly lost.
And even so—
the pain it has caused.
Now you’re just a memory—
the sweet love song,
Lyrics of a love song
now faded, now gone.
