Kyla's pov:

As my flight touched down, I frowned. It just became all too real just now. 'Go, make friends.' My mother told me. I stood from my seat, grabbing my only carry-on bag; my Violin Case.

'You need to learn how to deal with people. Having a roommate will probably help you develop people skills.' My father's voice came into my mind.

I'm not a weird person, I don't have tattoos, I don't have piercings all over my body, I don't listen to odd music, and I don't dress... strange. I walked through the small walkway that the plane had to offer, my case hugging my chest. I reached into my pockets to pull out the instructions.

Dear Miss Copeland,

On your arrival, a bus will be waiting for you and other students. The school's name will be on a white sign with the bus driver. Once you reach Academy grounds, you are to report to the assembly hall, where class schedules will be issued as well as dorms and roommates.

Sincerely,

Mrs.Herman, Dean.

I clenched my teeth tightly while every few moments people's shoulders clashed into mine, I could feel my anxiety slowly building with every physical contact. As I turned to head where the baggage claim sign hung, I of course bumped into a taller figure. I fell to the floor, now being flooded with embarrassment. I inhaled sharply, rubbing my tailbone before glancing up to a angry looking girl with emerald green eyes. The offended girl didn't offer to help me up while she glared down at me.

"Watch where you're going!" She snapped at me as she fixed her bag, turned away, and left me there, no help at all. Sighing, I picked myself up and dusted my clothes off. I couldn't help but curse under my breath as the aggressive girl stormed off. 'Why are people so rude?'  I couldn't help but think.

"Are you alright?" I looked over my shoulder to see a similar aged girl ask with an awkward smile and her hair dyed blue and pink, which seemed an awful like Harley Quinns. She leaned down, picking up my violin case before offering it to me, "I'm assuming this belongs to you? I saw you fall so I figured I would offer some help." She smiled kindly.

"Thank you." I said in a small voice, taking my case from her. "I'm fine, just embarrassed is all."

"I don't blame you, falling in public is one of my biggest fears!" She offered a sympathetic smile, which made me feel a bit better. Though, my anxiety was flying off the charts. "So, where are you headed off to?" She asked as we awkwardly started walking in the same direction; luggage claim.

"I'm headed to school." I kept my answer short, unsure of who this person really was. I gripped my violin case tightly as we waited for the bags to fall from the belt.

"Me too," She offered, clearly still wanting to speak to me for some reason. I side eyed her, simply nodding at her response, "I'm headed up to Esther Academy." She said, offering me a bright grin. My anxiety seemed to flush away at the familiar named school. It was as if hearing her say that eased my stress due to knowledge she wasn't some axe murderer or something. I know... that is a bit unhealthy but its how my mind worked.

"That's where I'm going as well." I informed her, giving her a quick glance. Though my anxiety was eased a bit, I wasn't positive I was completely thrilled by that information.

"Really?" Her voice raised with excitement, "That's great! I can tell we're going to become best friends. Is this your first time in a boarding school?" She asked just as I finished grabbing my luggage off the conveyor belt. I sighed to myself, but ignored it because frankly, it did actually feel nice to already meet someone who wasn't a complete jerk like the person I had a run in with earlier.
