Third Person POV

When it was time for Spot to wake the Newsies up, he woke Ace up first.

"Ace." Spot whispers loudly, shaking him awake.

Ace stirs a bit, groaning softly as his eyes open slowly. "Morning." He whispers, his eyebrows furrowed a bit in confusion. "Why are you waking me up this way?" He asks quietly, his eyes flicking around the room.

"I'll explain in a few," Spot tells him, his voice hushed. "Just carry Race to my room and lay him on my bed while I wake the others up." He whispers.

Ace looked confused, but complied, getting up and out of his bed.

He gently picked Race up, walking into the hallway with him when Spot flicked on the lights.

"Brooklyn Newsies." Spot starts in a normal voice. "It's time to get up." He tells them. "Any complaining and I will throw you off of the dock." He states.

Multiple boys woke up at that, including Cloth.

Others needed to be shaken awake, so some of their bunk buddies did shake them awake, like most mornings.

Hotshot sits up in his bunk, rubbing his eyes. "Why aren't you yelling like usual?" He asks groggily.

Smokes looks down from his bunk, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "And where's Ace?" He asks quietly.

Smokes had the bunk above Ace, so it was weird looking down and not finding Ace in his bunk.

Ace walks into the room, walking over to Smokes' bunk and pressing a soft kiss to his boyfriend's cheek. "Right here." He whispers, taking his hand.

Smiles blushes, looking away.

Ace chuckles, turning Smokes' head back to look him in the eyes.

Smokes' cheeks only got redder.

"Long story." Spot answers, slipping his pimp-cane into his belt loop.

"Spot..." Cloth starts worriedly. "Where's Race?" He asks.

Murmurs of worry traveled around the room.

Spot sighs deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Long story." He answers slowly. "But he's fine. Just in my room." He informs them.

Cloth raises an eyebrow at him.

Spot sighs, knowing he had to tell them now. "The kid hasn't been sleeping well." He informs them. "According to Chris, he's been up at 5am, at least, for the past- well- since he got here." He explains.

Certain Newsies in the room frown.

"I went down there this morning to find Chris talking to Race, saying something about having to get me involved." Spot informs them, his arms crossed and worry clear on his face. "I just want to give him a few more minutes than normal so he can sell well today." He finishes.

Hotshot shoots him a smirk, but there was some worry in his features.

Other Newsies in the room shared some concerned looks as well.
