Chapter 25- Closure

Tyler and I wondered through the hospital hall looking for room 618. He wanted to be here for his cousin now that her baby was here. I guess I could understand that but I would have rather of been anywhere else. I spent the last two hours writing the letter that broke my heart. The letter I wish I never had to write. It was the only way I could get out what I felt with completely breaking down.

Tyler and I came to a stop at the nurse’s desk where an older woman that looked about in her forties sat looking intently at her computer screen. I instantly recognized her as being a member of the pack which only confirmed we were in the right wing of the hospital. There was a designated area just for werewolves in this hospital with werewolf doctors as well. If a human doctor were to deliver a werewolf baby then we would be exposed and we couldn’t have that so our pack bought out a part in this hospital for our needs.

The lady reached out for her coffee cup and took a long sip before setting it down. Tyler cleared his throat lightly getting her attention. She merely raised an eyebrow to us when she noticed it was Tyler standing there and plastered a big smile on her face.

“Hello, how can I help you, Alpha?” She asked.

“We’re looking for Emily Moore’s room.” Tyler smiled.

“Of course. It’s straight down the hall eight door on the right.” She replied kindly. “Would you like me to shoe you there?”

Tyler shook his head. “No thanks, we can find it.”

“Ok.” She smiled politely then went back to her computer.

I could only imagine her sudden change in attitude was due to her now Alpha standing before her. She looked bothered before she realized who we were.

Tyler tugged on my hand and pulled me down the hall to the room. He rested his hand on the handle before turning his attention back to me.

“Are you read to do this?”

I took in a deep breath and nodded my head before speaking. “Ready as I’ll ever be.”

Tyler knew what coming here would mean for us. I would know what I have wondered all along. Was her baby really Jeremy’s.  Part of me would rather go on never knowing but I knew I had to. It’s not like it would matter much anymore though.

My mind wondered back to the test results I held in my hand only hours ago. I read over the words a hundred times just to make sure it was right, as if it would change the result as soon as I looked away from the paper.  Now that I know what I know I can’t escape my fate. Everything that happens is meant to be so there was some reason this happened to me.

The sound of a baby crying filled my ears as soon as the door was open. The first thing my eyes landed on as we entered the room was Emily laying in the hospital bed looking across the room talking to someone I couldn’t see yet.

“She might be hungry, bring her to me.” She said her eyes still fixated on the person across the room.

Emily didn’t notice our arrival until Tyler took a step further into the room causing her head to turn in our direction.

“Ty.” She cheered. “I was wondering when you would show up. You just missed your dad by a few minutes.”

“I’m glad to see you looking well.” He smiled.

“I am.” She replied with a large smile on her face.

It surprised me she could be so kind to anyone but me. She and Tyler seem to be friendly but to anyone else she was….well Emily.
