"What do you think our chances are?" Lexi sat in the truck with her dad, her uncles motor bike in the back.

"Slim." Daryl says focused on the road as he drove

"Guess it's better than nothing.." Lexi says sighing as she played with the wind on her hand. It pushed against her and she made her hand act like it was flying

"You finish that book yet?" He says looking at the book in her lap

"Yeah," Lexi says bored

"Found this when we were lookin for Merle," Daryl didn't take his eyes off the road as he reached into the bag pulling out a novel "To kill a mockingbird" it was something she read already, a classic that sat in window displays to show people they were selling books. Even though it was something she read before she tears up taking the book from her dad

"Thank you so much," she whispers holding the gift to her chest. Daryl laughs

"Tell me about that one first," Daryl tapped the other book Dale had let her borrow.

"It's wasn't very good but okay," Lexi went into a rant about the book, the story, the writing, the cover everything. This was something she used to do with Daryl all the time before Merle came back. She knew her dad didn't give a damn about the books she read, only her opinions on them. It was something that they could bond over without having to know to much about it. The only other person to let her do this was carl. So as the wind blew on their faces she ranted, Daryl nodding and asking general questions and giving stupid answers like

"Well maybe he likes to write it like that," to why the author put weird adjectives or "maybe his mom sucked," to her question about why no one had a mom in the books. It carried the conversation almost half way to the cdc eventually they started talking about hunting.

"I need a bow,"

"I told ya, it's too weighted for you." Even Daryl had to struggle a little bit to load up the Cross Bow, no matter how smart she was her arms were too weak.

"Not a cross bow a real bow, one meant for a smaller person maybe. I was thinking camping stores might have some since most people go for guns rather than a bow we might have a chance." Lexi explained

"It's a small chance but we'll keep an eye out." Daryl tells her

"I'll drill you on arrow making when we have a chance," Daryl ruffles her hair affectionately

The group arrives outside the compound. Surrounding the building are dozens upon dozens of corpses, as well as swarms of flies. Rick's caravan approaches the CDC, where hundreds of bodies lay dead on the ground. The group quietly approaches the building.

Daryl had tied a bandanna around Lexi's face hoping to help some of the smell from getting to her, he did the same to himself. She had her gun and knife and he had his cross bow as they followed the group. The shutters were closed it looked abandoned. Lexi walked up to Rick not lowering her gun. Shane pounds on door.

"There's nobody here," T-dog says

"Then why are these shutters down?" Rick asks

"Walkers!" Daryl yells shooting one in the head

"You led us into a graveyard!" Daryl yells at Rick

"He made a call," Shane yells at Daryl

"It was the wrong damn call!" Daryl yells again. Lexi wants to tell him off but Shane beat her too it
