Memories 07: A Lonely Night with Someone to Lean On
"I got someone pregnant." he said in his straight face.
I stopped thinking for a second because of what he said. I was just staring at him and wasn't responding.
"Hello? Agnes?" kumaway kaway siya sa akin na para bang pinapabalik niya ako sa huwisyo ko.
"Agnes!"
Bumalik ako sa reyalidad ko nang bahagyang nilakasan ni Raven ang boses niya para mahimasmasan ako. "Ah, sorry..."
"Okay ka lang?" nagaalala na tanong sa akin ni Raven. "Ano?"
Tumango ako at huminga ng malalim. "Oo, okay lang."
"As I was saying, I got someone pregnant." he whispered carefully.
"Sino yung nabuntis mo?" tanong ko habang pinapakalma ang sarili.
"Uh, her name is Vianna."
"Are you two married?" tanong ko habang mahinang humihiling na hindi.
"Nope," he sighed. "But that was the reason why I didn't attend our graduation and suddenly vanished."
I didn't respond because I don't actually know how to respond. I mean, he was telling his story right now where I didn't even prepare myself.
"So if you two are not married then where is she? At yung anak mo?"
"My daughter is at my house and about Vianna..." he sighed then stopped talking suddenly. "She died while delivering my daughter."
"Where is she? I mean, your daughter?" tanong ko habang tinitignan ang labas ng bahay ni Raven.
The house was so big, was really different from the size of my apartment. Hindi ko alam kung paano nakayanan na tumambay doon ni Raven nang hindi siya nasisikipan. Nakapunta na ako rito noon pero sa sobrang tagal na no'n, hindi na ako gaanong sanay dahil sa lumipas na panahon.
"Nasa loob, she has asthma. That's why I was kinda rushing, I'm sorry that you have to be a part of this.
"Why did you spend the whole day with us when you have your daughter waiting for you sick?" tanong ko at bakas ang galit sa boses ko.
He looked down then sighed. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to spend time with Katherine..." he whispered.
Inirapan ko siya bago bumuntong hininga. "Sige na. ipark mo na 'yang sasakyan mo." Sabi ko at sumandal na sa inuupuan ko at hinayaan ko na siya na ipasok ang sasakyan niya sa loob.
"Yes, ma'am."
Nang maipark niya ang sasakyan niya sa loob, nilagay ko ang sombrero ni Katherine na mahimbing pa rin ang tulog bago nauna nang lumabas ng sasakyan niya at dumiretso na sa loob ng bahay niya. I have been here, matagal na rin pero alam kong kilala pa ako ng mga katulong ni Raven.
"Wait," Raven stopped me from behind when I was about to open the door. "Let me open the door."
When he opened the door, the sound of nebulizer welcomed us. Hinanap ko kung saan nanggagaling ang tunog ng nebulizer at nakita ang dalawang katulong na babae na hawak hawak ang isang baby na halos matanda lang ng isang taon kay Katherine.
"Cupcake," Raven's expression instantly changed when he saw the situation of his daughter. The scenery in front of me silently tugged my heart. It was heart warming seeing him soft with his daughter. I instantly became worried when I saw his daughter's situation. How could this prick be outside having a happy moment with someone else's daughter when his daughter was suffering? Tsk.
