"Have you two chosen your dresses for the ball?" Sabine asked, wringing some clothes dried.

"Yes!" Lila exclaimed, rushing to her room to get her dress out and on.

"You should go show yours, Marinette." Tom says, sitting on the armchair.

"Alright, papa." The bluenette nods, turning to head to the attic room.

Marinette walks to her room and glances over to where the mannequin stood with the beautiful baby pink gown stood in all its glory. The bluenette scurries over to the dress and gingerly takes it off the plastic stand, holding the silky dress in her hands.

"You definitely did well!" Tikki exclaims, in awe of the work her owner has done.

"Thanks, Tikki." Marinette giggles, quickly taking off her clothes and pulling her pink dress onto her slim figure.

The sleeves stopped at her elbows, with a white lace around the edges of the ends. A baby pink corset laid tightly snuggled around her chest, leading to her hips, a long skirt down to her feet with ruffles, adding dimension and life to the gown. The ruffles were laid with white pearls that brought a shine of colour to it.

Marinette smiles at her reflection in the mirror before reaching onto her desk for the white diamond necklace with a silver chain. Tikki took the ends from Marinette and assisted her with tying it around her neck.

"Thanks." The bluenette responds, tugging the necklace so the back would hang tightly against her neck.

With a final look in the mirror, the bluebell eyed girl turns and quickly walks down the stairs, lifting her dress up so it doesn't get dirty from the floor.

Her parents were with Lila as they talked with their daughter who was in a light orange gown, down to ground. It had no sleeves, white gloves covered her hands. She wore a tightly fitted corset that went to her hips with a laced back, making a 'V' shape. Her skirt was etched with laced designs up to the top.

Marinette looks up to see her gaping parents and a jealous Lila.

"My dear, Marinette! That is absolutely lovely!" Sabine exclaims, rushing to her daughter and examining the sewn dress.

"That is one of the best gowns I've ever seen, better than any store bought one I've ever got the chance of viewing." Tom chuckles.

"Thank you mama, papa." Marinette smiles brightly.

"Yes, my darling sister, that is such a lovely gown." Lila feigned delight at her step-sister.

"Thank you, Lila. You look beautiful as well." Marinette responds, with a forced smile, eyeing her sister.

"You must've put a lot of time and effort into making such a dress, so I have a surprise for you." The brunette says sweetly walking out.

Marinette breaks from the fake smile to silently roll her eyes at her step-sister's antics. She turns to observe her handiwork, even impressed at her own talents and skills. Never in a million years had she thought she could make such a designed gown. For a ball no less.

Lila returned into the room with a small, circular-shaped cake and walks it over to Marinette. Lila lightly scoffed as she eyes the edge of the coffee table and leaned to walk near it. She swung her leg behind the edge of the coffee table to initiate a trip and threw the cake at Marinette. With a yelp, she fell, hitting the ground with as much grace as she could muster. Once her face view was away from her parents, her lips curled into a smile.

"Marinette! Are you alright?" Tom asked.

"Oh dear, your dress!" Sabine sighs.

"It's all ruined." Marinette cried, wiping off as much frosting and cake as she could.

"Oh dear! I'm terribly sorry, Marinette! I slipped against the coffee table and dropped it on you. How clumsy of me! I'm terribly sorry." Lila responds with feigned innocence.

Marinette tossed the dirtied towel to the side and walks to her sister, slapping her across the face. Lila swung her head in the impact, her right cheek turning blush red. The bluenette clenched her fists tightly, turning them pale.

"Don't play coy, you snake. I know you did it on purpose." Marinette snapped.

"W-What are you talking about?" Lila stammered, rubbing her cheek lightly.

"You purposely destroyed my dress because you're jealous!" The bluenette yelled, frustrated.

"Why would I do that? We're sisters!" Lila defended.

With a scoff, Marinette wiped the remains of frosting off her dress and smeared it across Lila's caked, make-up face. Lila let out a gasp as her face was now messy.

"We're step-sisters, Lila. You will never be my real sister." Marinette growled, turning to walk away.

"Marinette, that wasn't needed. It was a pure accident, you had no right to slap and then smear frosting on her like that. She has never done anything to you." Sabine argued.

Marinette scoffed and rolled her eyes, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

"That's it, Marinette. I don't know what got into you, but now you are no longer allowed to come with us to the ball." Tom responds, taking Lila out to the washroom.

"W-What?! That's unfair!" The bluenette protested.

"I agree with your father, until you learned to control that hot-temper of yours, you won't be leaving this house for the week. Apologize to Lila as well." Sabine sighs, walking out with Tom and Lila.

Fuming, the bluebell eyed girl walks to her room and slams the trapdoor shut. She tears off her gown and changes into a white blouse and denim overalls, before flopping down onto the bed.

"Your parents are right, you can't just hit Lila like that." Tikki says calmly.

"You don't actually believe her lies, do you?" Marinette protests, wiping her tears away.

"Of course not, but that wasn't right." Tikki responds.

"Now I can't go to the ball with Alya and see my friends." Marinette sighs, laying her head against her pillows.

"It's alright, Marinette. It probably wasn't worth it anyways." Tikki attempts for reassurance.

"But Adrien was there tonight." The bluenette responds, turning her head over to her desk.

A small black box catches her eye. It's design was similar to one of the Miraculous box she had received, but instead of red markings etched on, it was a dark purple. With curiosity, she climbs down her bed and walks over to the desk.

A small rolled up sheet of paper lied next to it.

"Do you know what this is, Tikki?" Marinette asked, turning to face her Kwami.

"No, it wasn't there before." Tikki responds cautiously.

Marinette unrolls the paper, reading the words inside.

Inside this box, holds a power to cause a certain evil. Do not use it unless you're willing to pay the price to bring back what was lost.

With a hum, she folded the paper and put the box inside her desk, hidden next to her Miraculous box holder.

"I probably will never use such evil." Marinette sighs, closing the drawer and sitting by the window, leaning on her hands.
