Serpent's Pass

i was having trouble sleeping so i went back to the ledge and looked out at the ocean. the moon was behind me and so it was lighting up the water, making it sparkle.

"can't sleep?" i heard a voice say
"huh?" i turned around and sokka was there, "oh no"
"can we talk?"
"uh yea sure."

he sat down next to me with his legs hanging like mine

"look y/n, what's bothering you?"
"honestly?"

he nodded.

i was hesitant telling him but he wants to know and i know i can trust him.

"suki."
"suki? why?"
"i don't know you just seem different around her and i just..."

i was cut off by him turning my head and kissing me.

i quickly pulled away and just stared at him shocked and totally red

"uh uh sorry."

i tried talking but nothing came out

"i-i just" he said
"um...you like me?"

i finally muttered

"y-yes"

i looked down at my hands fiddling my knife

"i-i like you too but-
"but what?"
"what about suki, she clearly likes you and you obviously feel something for her"

he looked down

"she and i..."
"sokka it's okay. once you figure things out with her. let's talk."

i gave him a small smile

"okay goodnight. get some sleep."
"i can stay up for days if i needed to."
"what about when we were being chased by those girls?"
"that's different."
"how?"
"fine you caught me"

i jokingly stuck my tongue out him and he playfully pushed me

"night y/n"
"night dummy."

he got up and went to his sleeping bag.

i dropped my head into my hands

figure stuff out? you just had your first kiss, with a guy i like. AND HE KISSED YOU! HE CHOSE YOU! ugh i'm so stupid.

it's now morning and i got a couple hours of sleep last night. we started walking and i was avoiding sokka and suki, so i stayed back with aang and toph.

we got to this section of the pass that was completely under water

"everyone single file!" shouted katara

she bended the water and it divided to make a path. i got behind toph and aang was behind me.

"aang i need help!"

aang handed me his glider and he made an air bubble around all of us.

there were fish swimming next to us and momo was very intrigued by them. he hopped out of the air bubble and then came back in completely shaken up.

i look over and saw a huge shadow.

"guys..."

the rest of them noticed too.

"what is that thing?"

whatever it was it broke through the our barrier. toph quickly uses her earth bending to raise the ground above the water.

the monster appears above the water with large shriek. i handed aang his glider and got out my two swords.

"i think i just figured out why they call it the serpent's pass! suki, you know about giant sea monsters, make it go away!"
"just because i live near the unagi does not mean i'm an expert!"
