"Mosai marked the first time I was making a decision not based on inherent insanity or a savior complex. We weren't dysfunctional. He wasn't holding on for dear life to me. He just wanted me, for my reality and my potential. He saw the me I was trying to be."

thank you for bringing this to wattpad (i’m late finding out lol) did you ever finish the rihanna fic or did you plan on revising it?

shedoesfiction

Hi stranger.
I’m editing/pretty much rewriting Black Hearts so I figured I’d try another platform. Didn’t finish the Rihanna fic because the writing was so cringeworthy, I’m triggered. Might revisit it but the story would be more about Rihanna (or Briann as I’ve renamed her in this story) and Cai.

"I couldn't believe I was being this girl. That struck by lightning in the middle of the floor girl. The girl so overcome that everything around her faded away because all that mattered was the boy in her sights. I wasn't the protagonist in an enduring YA novel. If anything, I was a seasoned hoe in an Iceberg Slim book."

“For Max, Ayanna was like Beetlejuice. Instead of the three times, someone only had to say her name once to conjure her presence. I knew he was in love with her, but the depths of it didn't have an end. I was relieved that we had never become that serious. Love was one thing. Obsession was another.”

“What I thought I remembered and that thing being presented to me in broad daylight were very different things. She glanced away, brushing her hair from her shoulder and turning just enough for me to see the thin red welt across her neck.”

After this, after I said my piece, I would leave her be as Leah urged me to do in the first place. But I had to get it out first. It felt like I'd die a sure death if I didn't. The things I wanted to say were mounting, writhing inside me with nowhere to go."

“The longer I had to put up with the insignificance of my emotions, the worse I'd be in the end. I was made to be the villain, a coveted position only a few could secure. You had to do bad to get any good in this world anyway.”

“For me, it wasn't a big deal. For everyone else, it would open up something worth analyzing. I was a private, part-time gig junkie. Max knew, Leah suspected, and Mosai would never find out about it. I was okay with that.”

“She looked embarrassed that I'd even took notice of her changes. A cover story was there to tie her actions up neatly. I wanted her to trust in me enough to realize I didn't want her to paint anything a color it wasn't.”
