Sashalia buried her face in the crook of her elbow.  The prince had to resist its pull and shield his eyes from the ruffling dust. Through the gaps in between his fingers, he found the void growing inch by inch as it sucked all the air around them. "

          "Why are there so many couples like you here in this Fallen City?" Lucantis inquired from the other side of Jadenyx. 
          
          Dally answered in the sweetest voice Jadenyx had ever heard. "Many inter-clan couples are unable to keep their hybrids alive in this city. There's a rumour about a group of vigilantes abducting and killing them. We have nothing left except hope of finding our little Havey one day. We wish there was someone who could employ us till then."

Jadenyx passed under the arch and stepped onto the cardinal street of the city. A tall feal obelisk hoisted at the side of the road had strange letters engraved on it from top to bottom. To clear up the visitor's confusion, its interpretation "Casalilk Taha" was chiselled on the pedestal at the bottom in the Arcalian language that was spoken during the present age. 
          
          
          Jadenyx's eyes caught a deep spiral crack on the obelisk that traveled from its top part to the middle part, tilting the upper chunk a bit. He pressed his thumb on the feal stone, collecting a thick layer of dust mixed with a faint greenish powder on the pulp of his finger.
          
            
          
          Why wasn't the city maintained properly? He wondered if it was an offseason for pilgrims. Even then, a famous city shouldn't be in such a state, right?
