Some tips for your writing: don't alliterate, one of the many things that can make or break a writer is alliteration, some readers like it, but to most, it sounds repetitive and boring. Also I don't know if you've heard of the "show not tell" tip, this one could enhance your writing when your writing about a close characters death, one that another really cares about. But for this one to, use sparingly and don't use it for every emotion or feeling a character has.
Wow. It was very professionally written, and it held an audience. You asked for my opinion so, I think this was a extremely good start, I may not give the best opinion since I'm not completely interested in the genre, but for people who are, their going to love it! Can't wait to see more chapters!
