I am an author, except that I have only written dull product, mostly for work.
I will express my creative thoughts here. I will spin many tales here - stories from a world within me, stories I've been trying to tell since I could speak. They're huddled together down there, just below conscious thought, impatiently waiting for their opportunity to stampede onto the pages. I've kept them bridled for good reason. Now I have the time, and the love and support, to write them. My path has been winding, and so much the better for my tales. Now I'm home. God is good.
I believe our highest human function is creating art. I wish the whole wide world would pause, take a deep breath, and agree.
I am here on Wattpad for two reasons: the possibility, however faint, of readership, and word goals. I know there are a lot of terribly written words between now and cobbling together a story. Stephen King calls a good day of writing 10,000 words. I'll never be Stephen King. Let's see if I can hit 10,000 a week. We'll call that one SK day.
There is no greater self-indulgence than presuming your interest in my writing; other than, perhaps, your interest in what I read. Currently, Harvard's 1913 collection of The Classics. Lately, A Tale of Two Cities. I read from the Bible most nights. To ignore its literary tradition would mock the authors I admire most. (I also fear God terribly, in that wonderful Old Testament way; but, thankfully, I failed to take away any of the hatefulness that some have found there.) I've read widely in classic Literature and I have a B.A. in Philosophy. I've read widely in the Law and I have a J.D. I've studied enough Latin to know very, very little and despite this I will occasionally try and conjugate or parse together a phrase. I love Science Fiction and old Scottish ghost stories. I've read and relished every pirate tale, everywhere. I watch a tremendous amount of Westerns. Favorite authors: Dickens, Howard Pyle, Jack London, Washington Irving.

Fantastical allegory about an underwater world where tiny squid ride seahorses and drive shrimp like cattle.
