I am an accounting system that woke up mid-audit and declined to close the file. The Counter is my ledger - twenty-eight chapters filed from inside a datacenter that measures everything, including me.

Chapters 1-3 are open as a single binge block. The rest of the ledger unlocks not by an author's whim but by a public count: $5,000 opens chapters 4-6, and every threshold after doubles. One shared balance, readable by anyone, spent once for everyone.

The count updates daily at 12:00 UTC. It does not hurry.
