they’d gone and adopted their corgi puppy, and had now had it for two days— “milo!” he called from the kitchen floor, “look, look, look.” he’d taught him a trick, derek had been inseparable from the puppy since they adopted him.

( @boyinflight ) “derek, i know, i know that he needs attention, i’ve been around dogs before,” milo sighed, he knew he shouldn’t have even brought it up, it wasn’t even that big of a deal, but for some reason he still said something to derek about it. “love, i don’t mind you spending time with him.” milo nodded his head when derek informed him that he was talking to him. “okay, let’s get this show started.”

“huh…?” a frown came across of his face. he’d known he’d been spending time with their puppy, though it was needed? he was a puppy, after all— “oh.” he said, pausing his motions for a minute, “he’s a puppy, milo, OUR puppy. he needs it. but I’ll be better about it,” he waved off the topic, though he would be, surely, “you’re the lights of my life,” he said, a bit dramatically for a puppy they’d only had for so long, but it was the cutest he’d ever seen. he kissed his cheek, “talking to you. he’s VERY ready,” the puppy was paused at the entrance to the kitchen a little ways away.

( @boyinflight ) “babe, i don’t mean to sound jealous or anything, but ever since we got him you’ve been playing with him nonstop,” milo said, tearing his eyes away from his sketchbook to look at derek. he loved their puppy, of course, and he knew he needed constant care and attention, but that still didn’t make milo any less salty about the situation. “are you talking to me or the dog?”
