Robert Sigsby was raised in a small fishing village on the Oregon Coast and spent much of his youth haunting sand dunes, beaches, and the Pacific Ocean, including several years working on a commercial salmon fishing boat. He has lived within a few miles of an ocean all of his life and enjoyed a two-year stint in the Navy on islands of Micronesia in the Pacific.
In a college creative writing course, a professor asked if he had "any more stories like the one you just handed in." This has led to a life-long infatuation with writing adventure stories.  Most of them involve life on or near the sea.
