Jinwei might not be the most perfect ml and love interest I’ve read, but I think the flaws of the partners and the inner turmoils of the relationship are what makes the love between people grow stronger. If they don’t go through the hardships now and learn more about each other through it, how will they grow together and strengthen their bond?
So what if Jinwei has flaws and make readers dislike him? As long as you, the author, like him and choose him as her partner then it doesn’t matter what the readers say. His flaws are what makes him human, a relatable character and a more interesting character that we want to see as we go down his journey of character growth and development. Like they say, it’s not the result, goal or destination that we cherish. It’s the journey and ups and downs that we look back on most and laugh and cry about.
Anyway this is your book and you should do whatever makes you happy. If the readers don’t like what you’re writing, they can leave. You didn’t force them to read, they chose this book. You may lose readers, but you may also gain readers who like your idea. We’re just reading your story, we don’t know the plan, the end goal, the bigger picture. We just comment on what’s happening in the now. Who knows? The end product might be just what we wanted in the end.
