According to JetBlue's cancellation policy, a passenger cannot reschedule a non-refundable flight due to the illness of a family member. Nevertheless, subject to the applicable change charge, the passenger may postpone the travel date by converting the ticket into an open status ticket for travel at a later date (but no later than one year from the original date of issue). Nonetheless, it is free to cancel refundable tickets before a flight.
