Growing up, I was never the popular girl in  school no matter where I went.

I always strived to try to get people to like me but nothing seemed to work until I came across one girl, the girl that would become my best friend and still is to this day. I have her to thank for my love of books.

She introduced me to my first vampire novel, The vampire's assistant by Darren Shan. From that my love for the supernatural was born (do not watch the film adaptation
). It was unlike anything else I had ever read - Jaqueline Wilson, Meg Cabot to name a few. I discovered my love of reading about a world that I would never physically be able to see but could be transported to through words.

My allowance was always spent in Waterstones (British bookstore) where I would spend most of my free time, when I wasn't walking my BFF's dog, hoping to fine any new fantasy book. My collection stands strong at 300 (so far). 

There's another woman I have to mention, a woman I hope to one day and that would be my Literature teacher from secondary school, Ms Wilson. My grade in English wasn't the best, in fact I was working at D, after a year of her teaching me, she taught me the complexity of writing and understanding subtext and looking deeper than the words printed on the page. Because of her I came out with an A and got into university to study Creative Writing.

Coming from a less than wealthy background, I've supported myself while studying my working in bars, a job that I still hold today. As most people know the hours that come with working  in bars isn't particular writing friendly.

So I saved and decided to take a sabbatical from work so that I can pursue the dream I've had since reading Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake which is to write a fantasy. I doubt I'll get to be a successful as my role models but there's only one way to find out. 

So here I am, travelling around the world trying to find inspiration and finally put into words the story I've had in myself for so long.
