Winter Verlice

Hola a todos! My name's Winter, and I love to write just about anything-novels, plays, poems, and even songs. Most of my works on here are from playwriting competitions I entered in years prior, but I'm working on a deeper novel called "Making Demons" which better represents who I am as a writer for its deeper meanings, plethora of action, and religious inspiration!

"Making Demons" is, at its heart, a moral and at-times dark commentary on humanity's principles on right and wrong and just how easily those principles can turn to ashes when someone realizes they're above others set in a prestigious university in Salem, Massachusetts. I wouldn't necessarily call it a pessimist's story, as I am a very optimistic individual and it certainly shows the good in people, but its primary theme is the descension of good people into cruelty.

"Memories, Murder, and One Little Question" is a short one-act play I wrote for the Palmetto Dramatic Association for their 2022-2023 Original One-Act Playwriting Competition! In the end, it received first place (in all of South Carolina!). Its plot revolves around a young Latina woman and her mentally ill father's past and memories. To come to terms with their past, he must accept the events that transpired so long ago and be honest with his estranged daughter.

"Hunting a Wolf" is another one-act play I wrote for the same playwriting completion the year before, and it received 2nd-in-state. In five scenes, it tells the story of an affluent CEO's apparent murder where the daughter of one his newest employees is the prime suspect. It's a tale about independence and asserting who and what you are when the materialistic world simply doesn't listen to you.
