After 108 chapters, Houseki no Kuni has officially ended. This manga means a lot to me as I've been following it for 6 years and the characters resonated with me. After a lot of suffering, Phos, the main character can live out their life in peace with their friends and I couldn't be more happier.
The core part of the manga is about what makes humans human and self acceptance. Reading discussions about the themes was thought-provoking since the story has a lot of symbolism and heavily references pure land Buddhism. The story also serves as a cautionary tale about how making the worst choices can destroy a person.
