“When writing a story imagine that you are a director. Run the scene over in your head. If the actor moves in your head or pauses, us readers need to be told so. We can’t imagine it in the same way as you unless you tell us. When writing, it is always better to over explain things to your readers. Pretend we’re blind second graders and we need to be told what’s going on word for word, detail for detail.”
