I'm a 59-year-old, married father of two -- a boy and girl both in the early stages of college. I've always felt compelled to write as a way of getting in touch with myself; also to challenge a reader to wonder what's below our surface reality, and how they feel about it. Hopefully I've improved at both over time, and The Eternal Quest is meant to describe an endless search for deeper meaning in our lives.

But it's not easy to maintain this pursuit of higher ideals because practical matters that can't be put on hold too long keep getting in the way:  Things like transitioning into a decent career you don't dislike, and trying to please everyone else while fighting your own demons; not to mention the Cold War, global warming, and, more recently, geopolitical storms at home and abroad.

I've uploaded nine short stories, which includes some flash and micro fiction, as well as an ongoing collection of poems. I prefer writing shorter pieces because you can take a deep-dive into the subject matter for a sudden, powerful impact -- without completely losing yourself in an alternate reality. This better matches the average reader's attention span anyway, while also forcing a writer to make every word count.

I want to believe consciousness continues to exist after our physical bodies are gone, and variations on this theme are dealt with in several of my stories. Regardless, a kind of immortality can be found in the written word that outlives us, and its ability to create a shared emotional experience with readers across time and space.
