            Certainly, that's the explanation for what most fictional characters go through in the end. Yeah, the whole For The Greater Good gets on my nerves, but again, all I can say is children's show, and try not to get too hung up on it haha

I think the strongest argument anyone can make for these characters is "plot reasons?" The creators needed a plot and characters with depth. Which they did do even if they used the whole For The Greater Good/End Justifies The Means mentality.

@Hades_Loki_Anubis Basically, I don't hate Iroh (though nor do I particularly like him), and I understand that maybe there wasn't a lot that could've been done, but I do think he could have made a difference in some ways if he'd attempted to.
            Then again, it's a show aimed more towards a younger audience so we can't ask for that much more character depth, they did a great job with Zuko and the whole evil - confused - trying-to-be-good thing
