My first book, "Whispers Beneath The Waves", follows Dawn, a young mermaid who must travel to our world to find a mate.
The rules are set out for her, but Dawn makes the mistake of falling in love with the human she mates with.

This was my first self-published book and after many years, I've decided to upload the improved and edited version onto here, for everyone's enjoyment!

CHAPTER ONE (excerpt)
Fear grips me when I see so many humans together. Until now I have always had to avoid humans at all costs, now I am expected to interact with them, I know at this moment there is no hope I will be able to do that, I am too terrified.
As silently as I can, I pass everyone; thankfully no one is taking any notice.
I try to keep myself as close to the shadows as possible. I knew that I would be coming ashore at night. I thought this would keep me hidden and maybe give me an advantage, now I find that these humans don't like the dark.
There are lights everywhere; they are on streets where I am walking and the dwelling that I pass, I keeps my head down, hoping that I will be able to pass un-noticed, I know I will have to mix with these humans, but feels unable to do so tonight...

CHAPTER TWO (excerpt)

Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but he did surprise me. Still he remains silent; I am beginning to think that there may be something wrong with this human.
I see that he has not taken his eyes off me since I turned around. I am starting to worry that I have done something, to make him act like this.
There is a look of disgust on his face, and it is then that I realise that these human, don't hunt for their food. I see that I have given away a clue about myself; I need to leave as soon as possible. I get up slowly, hoping he won't notice and start to move away as if nothing has happened.
