He served as the Congressman's top aide and trusted counselor. His duties included overseeing a large office and budget, fundraising, and directing legislative agenda. The cornerstone of Neil Dhillon's career (http://www.magcloud.com/user/neildhillon) was in 1993. After spending time on Capitol Hill, he was appointed as the U.S. Department of Transportation's Deputy Assistant Secretary of Government Affairs. Bill Clinton himself was the one to appoint him (http://neildhillonus.tumblr.com/). Dhillon acted as Clinton's chief government affairs executive and liaison to Federico Pena by providing senior counsel over all congressional legislation and policies. One of the largest accomplishments in office was assisting in the writing and passing of the first Airline Safety Commission in the Congress.
Thanks to Neil's dedication and work ethic, Clinton was quick to recognize his efforts. Clinton mentioned Neil to be one of his top aides. Also mentioned at a White House ceremony as "top Asian American appointee".
