This is a very practical quote. Many instances need us to see what’s beyond the surface. It could be that the homemade smoothie doesn’t look appetizing but it’s actually delicious, or with some event or person in life that is not what meets the eye.
Jedi, (even if you’ve just watched the movies and even more so if you’ve watched the many series and read the books) had to do this in world threatening matters. Galaxy threatening matters! And at the end of the Republic, the Jedi partially lost sight of this, which resulted in the end of the old Jedi Order. Obi-wan learned from experience that patience, awareness, an open mind, and learning both sides of the situation was important. He was passing this on to Luke, and by extension, to all of us. It’s something that stuck out to me and helped me a lot :) .
