Marty tells stories using art, words, songs, puppets, and sometimes a combination of all of those interesting items. He is a writer, visual artist, creative producer, performer, musician, teacher, and above all else, a storyteller. He has been a practicing artist for over twenty years. 

Marty has had six books of non-fiction published internationally including the best-selling "50 Knots You Need To Know."  Marty's first play for children, "A Perfect Party for Trees" was commissioned by Trusty Sidekick Theater company in 2022 had its premiere at New York's Little Island featured in The New York Times ("...perhaps the greatest gift this new play offers its audience is intangible: the freedom to be themselves." -NY TIMES). 

While much of Marty's practice is deeply collaborative, he has worked for himself, running his own business of art sales and consultancy for over fifteen years. His favorite place to sell his work is on any sidewalk, with a table he brought and set up, selling Sock Puppet Portraits from a suitcase to passers-by - a tactic that has always been a deep piece of his practice and laid the foundation for all of his work and collaborations. Said collaborations include but are not limited to a cornucopia of cool folks like Nickelodeon, Hasbro, Lemon Demon, Google, Buzzfeed, The Henson Foundation, Harry & The Potters, Trusty Sidekick, The All Stars Project, Leroy's Place, Maker Faire, and many others. 

A Boston-native and graduate with honors and distinction from Mass College of Art, Marty now lives and works in Brooklyn, NY with his wonderful partner and their adorable dog.  All of Marty's work is dedicated above all else  to chasing a sense of wonder and moments of real and honest connection. Wonderful connection.
