MJ Sams-Barnes

Greetings. I am Mike. Simply Mike. (Though on here my pen name is actually MJSams-Barnes.)

I am your everyday average guy. (Kinda.) I have a few friends. (More like one!) As is most obvious, I have a keen passion for writing, but often find myself struggling to finish anything concrete. Alas, my oldest story and current story is 7 years old, and still it is here, not letting go, yet I am unable to finish it. Maybe with some inspiration from you all I can finish it.

And then of course there is the short stories I have written. They are few and far between, but each carries a unique edge, I find. And yet they are common, everyday stories. Fantasy. Oh yeah! Fantasy is my niche, my love, my passion. (And yet I have not yet read The Lord of the Rings. I know. Stupid, right? The most epic fantasy story there is and I have passed it by. First I gotta read The Hobbit!)

Anyway, back to the writing. I hope you like some of the stories I have written. I plan to post weekly, though of course this is only if people like my stories - and me myself, I suppose. What do you wanna know about me? Here's a brief overview.

I was born prematurely in May 1993. I have three older siblings (the eldest of which ordered my to check out this amazing site). My dad died in 2003, four days before my 10th birthday. I miss him everyday. My Mum had a quadruple heart bypass when I was 9.

I first found myself interested in writing when I imagined two worlds fighting against one another. I soon abandoned this and, in 2005, started a new story - the story I am still trying to get right.

It is called The Soul Book.

And here I shall post the first chapter, entitled One Fateful Night. I has gone through various incarnations, though I feel at the moment most reflects the story I started that fateful day almost seven years ago.

Aside from writing, my other passions include reading (of course!), and computer animation.

I dream one day to become a published author.
