Inspired by @Writingmachinedude, I feel the need to post about an issue that some autistic and ND people are experiencing in this season. So basically a lot of people have colds and coughs and when they have hacking coughs, it's REALLY LOUD. We cannot help being hypersensitive and have to cover our ears/recoil etc. Some people get offended or annoyed by this, and I get that it might seem rude as you can't help having a cough, but please be mindful in future that many people can't stand the sound of coughing so just apologise lightly and warn them of your condition! We mean well and hope you get better soon! :)

@KawaiiMoon011 That's so unfortunate! Though I'm glad to hear more people's experiences with this :)

This is so true! I was in the store with my mom because I love grocery shopping for some unknown reason, and the lady in front of us in the checkout line was coughing. Not, like, regular coughing, but repetitive, “AHUHUHAU” coughing (and not covering her mouth) so I started to get stressed out because 1. LOUD 2. I’m a germaphobe, so I pulled my hoodie up over my mouth, covered my ears, and rocked. The lady kept glaring at me, so I stared at my shoes.

Hi lotus. I realized that I was wrong about autistic people by taking to my friend on the spectrums. She said it’s not a brain injury it’s just a different way of expressing yourself. I apologize for misrepresenting.

          That being said, can you maybe check out my new fiction with an autistic character?? It has been approved by an autistic person.

LotusWaterlily

@NotInvasiveSupport2 I appreciate your apology! I do realise that you had a broad expanse of mostly correct views and were well-meaning at heart.

            Of course I will check out your fiction, as soon as I have some time :)! I can't wait

It's nearing the end of Women's Month, and it has been a great time to celebrate our existence. Tomorrow shall welcome the beginning of Autism Acceptance/Awareness month, so stay safe all autistic friends, and have a nice time. I hope you have a good and healthy time.

@PixieBrossett Wow, that's a great idea!

How was everyone's International Women's Day? Mine was great! I hung out with my ladyfriends and we ate sausages and cake and crisps and sausages and sandwiches and sausages, and had a piñata with quotes from inspirational women, and everyone got drunk except me and a Muslim friend and I felt really cool because I got to be like in scenes in books and films where someone drags someone else outside to sober up in the rain, only it was too cold so we were only able to drag four people before we considered hypothermia, and then I gave up on them all and abandoned ship to play the piano in solitude. But overall it was a great day to appreciate women worldwide!

@PixieBrossett Those are some pretty cool women.

@LotusWaterlily they include Malala Yousafzai, Raden Ajeng Kartini, Annie Smith Peck, Nellie Bly, Irena Sendler, Jean Batten and Emmy Noether, among others. I don't necessarily want to follow in their footsteps (I'm not one for mountain climbing like Annie or solo piloting like Jean, and I don't particularly like maths so I'm no Emmy Noether) but they're all incredible women and I have a lot of respect for them.
