Greetings again to my handful of loyal followers and readers! Worry not, for this page's hiatus will soon be coming to a close.

As this summer has been unbearably hot and depressing, it's been difficult for me to focus on writing or creative endeavors of any sort. So, some reviews of my old Eighth Doctor Adventure books aside, I've been on a bit of a writing hiatus. However, thanks to an unexpected tax return, I was able to buy a laptop and am once more able to write during the day rather than always having to focus on my craft late in the evening. Not only is this far better for my mental health and sleep cycle, but also it will be far more conducive to the flow of my creative juices.

The current plan is to work on my two partially-completed stories, "Auction of the Damned" and "Out Among The Planet Harvesters" and once they're complete, post them, likely sometime shortly after the start of September. Afterwards, I shall hopefully have the head start I need to get going on my next set of writing ventures and be able to share them all with you on a much more regular schedule.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding! I look forward to sharing more of my writing with you all in the future :)

Hello everyone! Don't worry, this page isn't dead. I've been kind of fatigued and under the weather the past couple weeks (likely due to the increased temperature, I'm frail when it comes to the shift in seasons). I am partially done writing both "Auction of the Damned" and "Out Among The Planet Harvesters" and hope to have them up in the next week or so. If any further delays occur due to whatever reasons, I will let you all know. Thanks for being patient and supportive! :)

Hello folks! Another week, another delay. Sorry to anyone looking forward to the next story in my roster, a one-off titled "Auction of the Damned." Been busy/tired all week trying to get my new apartment in order and kind of fell behind. Also, after writing the first dozen pages or so, I found my initial treatment of the premise wasn't working, scrapped it and started anew. Hope to be done in the next day or two, might very well end up with two stories next week. Anyway, until then, feel free to enjoy one of my other stories on the list-and hopefully I'll likely find time to create decent cover art for each of them, too. Happy reading & writing :)

New weekend story is up, sorry for the slight delay! "The Necromancer Prince's Journey Across The Stars," the first entry in my Necromancer Prince series, is now published and posted for your reading pleasure! Next week: a one-off based on the premise "The Auction of the Damned." For now, happy reading! :)

Hello to my small following of readers and to anyone new who stumbles upon my page! I'm here to give an update on how things are going for this writer and this page/project.

-In case you hadn't noticed, there's been a tiny hiatus in writing due to my wife and I moving cross-city over the past two weeks. While I have of course been thinking of ideas and trying to process potential plots, characters and scenes, I haven't actually been able to write. So sorry about that, been rather fatigued and busy.

-The good news: our move is now mostly complete, just have to sort out the new place. Internet is back up and I'm fairly well-rested at last which means I should be able to resume writing this weekend. If I manage to prevent myself from going overboard like I did with "Thief-Lord of Light, Dragon-King of Shadow," then I should hopefully have the first entry in my third short story series, The Necromancer Prince, posted this upcoming weekend. After that, I'll be running polls among my readers elsewhere to determine my next story after that (likely another one-off as I need to develop the next story premises for the series first.)

-In the meanwhile: if anyone out there would be willing to help lend a hand designing covers for my stories and would be willing to do it for free/in return for a short story based off of a prompt or premise of their choosing, I'd be extremely grateful. I have no talent with Photoshop or anything of that nature and would love to have some covers to further entice readers. I'm sure there's somewhere on the forums I could ask but right now, I'm putting the call for help here. Thanks to anyone willing and able to help!

-For now, feel free to enjoy the four stories I have posted, can't wait to write some more! Hopefully I'll have some more followers eager to read by the next time I post :)

Thief-Lord of Light, Dragon-King of Shadow is now published! At long last, my 35,000 word novella is complete (should've been an 8,000-10,000 word short story but the tale grew in the telling as its wont to do). For any one of my followers or any newcomers to my Wattpad wishes to check it out, here's a descriptor for you:

The first entry in my Thief-Lords of Chiaroscuro series. WARNING: This entry is novella-length and a lot more mature than my usual works as its an homage to cyberpunk and heist stories and features dragons. Contains violence, harsh language, discussion and scenes of pain, torture, imprisonment, sex, exploitation and slavery, most offscreen.

Chiaroscuro. Far-flung future home of humanity, a shadow-shrouded city-world of forty billion humans and their bloodthirsty dragon overlords. And of course, home to the infamous thief-lords of the Free Sector.

Akio Harper is the fallen son of a privileged family of the floating Stormstratum cities, reduced to scrounging and stealing on the streets of the lowest levels of the endless city of shadow and light. One day in the gods-forsaken Bone Market, he discovers an ancient artifact of flesh-glass that allows him to warp reality and wield immense power.

Years later, young Akio has become the Lord of the Hellfire Horde and Master of the Demon's Tower, determined to put an end to the most corrupt of humanity, the crime-lords and the chattel-sellers, the twisted Dark Arcanists and the sadistic draqomorphs who voluntarily converted into creatures more akin to their draconic masters, uncaring as they see their fellow humans shackled and swallowed by monsters.

At long last, Akio has a plan to get back at the dragons and stop their plans to truly become gods. Will he and his ragtag crew of oddballs be able to overcome rival gangs, endless security grids and artifacts from before the dawn of time and stop their murderous monster-lords in time?

Feel free to leave feedback and add the story to your reading lists! :)

Writing Update 04/27/2020-

Hello to my small but growing following of readers! I hope you're all doing well today!

Dropping by for the quick announcement that "Thief-Lord of Light, Dragon-King of Shadow," first entry in the Thief-Lords of Chiaroscuro short story series I have planned, will be published this Friday. While I do try to have short stories done on a weekly basis, this one has evolved into more of a novella. So one week for short story, two weeks for the novella, given I can usually write out about 1500 words a night. Seems reasonable to me, I'll notify readers if one becomes the other any time it happens in the future as I don't like diverging from the schedule.

This of course means the short story originally scheduled this week, the first entry in The Necromancer Prince series, will be written and posted for next week. After that, there will be a short hiatus as my wife and I will be in the process of moving across town to a new apartment. I will officially announce the hiatus' start after that story is posted and then announce the resumption of writing once we're settled into the new place and have our wifi established.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and support! Hope you like the new story this weekend :)

Writing Update 04/25/2020

For anyone expecting me to have published this week's short story on Friday, don't worry, it is coming. "Thief-Lord of Light, Dragon-King Of Shadow" has grown into a novella length story and is about 2/3 done I reckon, around 15,000 words at the moment. While I think I can have it done tomorrow, I'm uncertain. Rest assured, the moment the story is done, it will be published on every platform where I post my work. As the first entry in The Thief-Lords of Chiaroscuro series, it needs to set up a lot of characters, worldbuilding and seeds for future conflicts & situations while having action, humor and darkness to balance the exposition and detailed descriptions. As my wife is home from work and has the desktop during the days, it is a tad difficult to write without falling asleep at the keyboard. Good thing I'm used to nocturnal typing endeavors. Thanks to my small but growing knot of readers for their understanding!

In the meanwhile, if you haven't read my three published works so far, why not give them a gander? Anyone who does also has my thanks and appreciation :)

charlesXcross

I really enjoyed your first short story, are you doing any more of it? I'm going to have a look at your others shortly. Do you follow a specific prompt thread? Quite new here too, and looking to expand my portfolio further.

LordFenric

@charlesXcross Hello! Thanks for reading and enjoying! Care and Feeding of Will-O'-The-Wisps was actually a one-off short story based off a prompt over on my Tumblr @lordfenric. I enjoyed writing it so much I decided to devise a weekly short story plan to get myself back into writing. I create story premises, let my tumblr/Patreon followers vote which premise they'd like to see the next week and then try to have the story up by Friday (running behind on this week's, "Thief-Lord of Light, Dragon-King of Shadow", it's more of a novella.) Care and Feeding was a lot of fun so it might get a sequel. The stories will veer between one-offs and entries in three planned series: The Neverending Emporium, The Thief-Lords of Chiaroscuro and The Necromancer Prince, which will start next week. I'll definitely put a sequel idea for Will-O-The-Wisps into the next available voting slot. Thanks so much for reading, following and enjoying! I hope you look forward to future stories from me, I'll have to check out your page :)
