After a long time of not reading, I have reread this work for the 3rd time, Thank you for Author for this wonderful story, but I am surprised about the censored chapter, if indeed this is a new wattpad regulation maybe nothing can be done, but there should be no need for this story to be tagged mature now, or it is? Idk about the rules, but I just hope that more people will read this wonderful story, thank you again, kiku. P.S I just happy and suprised you're alive
@paradoxpordium The mature tag is still needed. Only certain scenes that were allowed previously aren't anymore. Basically, the mature tag got nerfed. Happy to hear that you are still enjoying the story! Hopefully I can get out some new chapters sooner rather than later!

Is there any difference between the checkmate stories on different sites or are they all the same?
@Jsp-jmr Mostly, yes but there are some differences due to site policies. AO3 is the most 'complete' version with all images and uncensored chapters. Ff.net is uncensored, but doesn't have images since they only allow text. Wattpad has three censored chapters, the rest is uncensored as well.
Although I will be reading this on ffn.net, I joined this website to follow your work and thank you for writing such an amazing story.
While some may call it outrageous, I believe your work is equal to, if not better than, the original LNs.
If I had to sum up your story in a single word, it would be satisfying. I enjoy COTE, but there are many times when I am frustrated because of the MC's decisions, and this is where your story shines. It is satisfying without going into fan service.

This is such a large project that I have little hope that it will be completed, but please take your time and write only if you want to.

@Eternal_Venerable Thank you so much for the compliment! Changing the existing narrative is the biggest perk in fanfiction and I believe that most exist because readers disliked decisions made in the original. Everyone has their own ideas of how scenes could have played out, so I'm very glad to hear that you enjoy my version. I'm definitely still planning to complete it, so nothing has changed there, but I'll have to improve on my time management if I want to do so in a reasonable amount of time. Waiting a year for a chapter is neither good for the reading experience nor the writing process. Thank you for reading and stay healthy!

It's been a while, but I hope you are all well! First, for everyone who's worried: no, I won't be discontinuing the story. Unfortunately though, I do have to make some adjustments to certain chapters because of wattpads upcoming changes.
1: I'm going to remove chapters 10 and 11 and replace them with a quick summary or bullet points for the readers who either find the story here or don't want to read anywhere else. It's not a great solution, but given the broadness of their guidelines I've decided that it is safer to just replace them entirely before the story gets taken down in case I missed a scene they didn't like.
2: I'm going to remove a scene in chapter 26 and replace it with an introductory sequence. This one shouldn't impede the reading experience too much.
3: Chapters 10, 11, 26 and any upcoming ones will be marked with a [Censored] to let readers know that they were changed and don't reflect their original intent.
The remaining chapters should be fine, so I'll be leaving them as they are. If the story gets taken down regardless, then there's nothing I can do.
Given these circumstances, I've decided to upload the story in their uncensored form on ff.net and ao3. It's available on the former (https://www.fanfiction.net/u/15510967/) and I will upload it on the latter as soon as I can register.
Future chapters will be published simultaneously on all three platforms with the wattpad upload possibly censored, depending on the contents.
Let's hope that the next notification from me will be a new chapter!

@Kiku_6037 Looking forward to what you're cookin chef.. although the thought of choosing that skank Chie over Sae-sensei is a little lamentable. (I haven't discounted the idea that he is framing Chie rather than Sae though...)
Did you hear about Wattpad planning to remove Mature content from the site?
@CJDGOAT Not all mature content, but yes, I'm aware that the guidelines will change and that checkmate can't stay on wattpad the way it's currently written. I'll upload it on alternative sites (probably ff.net and ao3) and will remove the problematic parts here, so that the story can still be found on wattpad, albeit in a censored version. It's not ideal, but it is what it is.
Happy Anniversary for this great work being published! At least I think it is XD March 26th is the day when chapter 1 and 2 got published. Anyway hope your doing alright and don’t feel pressured or push yourself to update, us loyal readers will wait for your next chapter patiently.
