I'm not a writer. More of a story teller, I've been told. Just a little background. I started writing a couple of stories from childhood a couple of years ago and posted them online. The response was fun, so I kept writing more stories from memory. 

Over time, I've created a story line that was what, I thought, was just my life story through high school and college. But, folks told me that my perspective from the pov of a military brat was unique and compelling. For the first time, I started to realize, my growing up was very different from the norm. As I continued writing, I put more emphasis on the brat perspective. Each story reinforced how different our lives were. 

It's fun and that's why I write them. I really enjoy the commentary and the exchange with readers. That's all I want to do here. Share my stories of coming of age as a 70's Air Force brat and visit with a few commenters.

I didn't know it at the time, but growing up on Air Force bases was different.
We moved a lot. We learned names fast. We learned rules even faster.

Back then, kids played outside till the streetlights came on. Moms yelled names out the door. Dads were gone sometimes - and when they came home, it mattered. A lot.

These stories aren't big moments from history.
They're small moments that stayed big.

Some of them still make me laugh.
Some of them make me shake my head.
A few still make my mom sigh.

This is how I remember it - one mistake, one lesson, and one story at a time.
