Hi, I'm Janet Dawson. I've written eleven novels featuring Oakland, California private investigator Jeri Howard, and two historical mysteries set on the train called the California Zephyr, featuring Zephyrette Jill McLeod. My first Jeri Howard book is called Kindred Crimes, and it won the St. Martin's Press/Private Eye Writers of America contest for best first private eye novel. It was nominated in the best first category for three mystery awards, the Shamus, the Macavity and the Anthony. Kindred Crimes is the book I'm featuring on Wattpad.

I've also written a standalone suspense novel, What You Wish For, and twelve short stories. One of my stories, "Voice Mail," won the Macavity Award.

In my past lives I was a newspaper report and journalist in the Navy. I've also worked in the legal field and for the University of California. I am now happily retired and writing full time. When I'm not writing, I love going to plays and musicals, working in my garden, or going birding or hiking with friends. I think afternoon tea is a most civilized English tradition. I am a cat lover but I will deny being a crazy cat lady.
