Originally writing under the name JDP Hudson, he is now known as JD Paine. Hailing from a coastal town, in Britain's Southwest, JD Paine grew up hearing many of the region's ghostly and creepy tales. It was almost inevitable that he would enter the world of storytelling, especially of the creepy kind.

From reading the myths and legends, of cultures across the globe, to the creepy, fantastical tales of the likes of Poe, Lovecraft, James, et al., he became an avid fan of horror fiction. After writing short pieces for family and friends, it was suggested that he should publish his work in the public forum.

His stories tend to fall in the "weird tales" category. Telling tales of strange places and cursed objects and cursed people. Others have compared his stories to the likes of Borges and Poe.
