I awoke to a low growl. I opened my eyes and found Nox nearby looking at a plate of raw meat that Dakota was trying to push toward her. "Thank goddess you're awake. Will you tell her she needs to eat too?"

Nox jumped and turned around, her big golden eyes like saucers as she saw me raise my head. She yipped and bounded toward me. She nuzzled my neck and Forti snapped at her. A whimper broke my heart a little bit but Forti knew she needed tough love. I didn't seem to have my usual control over Forti but we were on the same page for once.

We finally made it to the diner near the house a while later. I was famished as we scooted into the leather booth. The waitress handed us our menus and I watched as her gaze flitted over the muscles of Orion's bare arms. NEW CHAPTER NEW CHAPTER NEW CHAPTER It was one pm by the time we got out of bed. It seemed everyone knew what we were up to as no one had come to check on us. I really hoped they knew because of intuition and not because the rooms aren't sound and scent proof in this house. That would be very uncomfortable. I do like the idea of others knowing I can please ma-

"I heard that," Callie jabbed me in the ribs with an elbow as we marched toward the heavenly aroma of food. "I would kill for some blood," Callie whispered looking at me with unsure eyes.

"I'll find you some raw meat. No need to go thirsting for it," I teased and pat her rear to remind her I love her no matter what her species. I shouldn't lie.

Dinner was grueling knowing what was to come. (Pun not intended but enjoyed.) We sat between Adeline and Patrick at the Alphas' table and I gave a brief prayer to the goddess before we all dug into a hearty meal of steak, potatoes, and broccoli. As if she knew she'd need her energy, Callie made quick work of her plate, downing her red wine and making small talk with Adeline. I couldn't stop myself from perpetually stroking her exposed thigh under the table, I needed to feel her near and it was all I could do not to give into the pull and let my hand wander.
