Story. That’s pretty much it, right? We all want a story, whether it be a fictional story where we jump into the lives of people we’ve never met and who never really existed at all, or a story of our own, where we are living a grand tale and we are our own hero.

I like story, in all its forms. I like my stories a lot, and that’s why I share them. I like your stories, too, the ones where you have triumphed or suffered or stepped into situations that you didn’t quite understand. It’s why I write. I want to tell my own stories, sure, but I also want to be able to step into your own stories and be a part of your life as well. If you are here with me, you are a friend.

And if you’ll bend your ear to hear my stories, I will love you forever.

OK, maybe that’s taking it a step too far.

I live in Texas with my wife and two dogs, hammering away at the keys as we speak. Texas has a lot of things in it that I like, but Shelly is the best of them. Every guy should have a girl like her, but if they did I wouldn’t be able to know just how wonderfully fortunate I am to have found her and wedded her after seven great years of friendship.

People who know me are often surprised that I’m as much an introvert as I am, because I love people. My background is in teaching and counseling young people and helping kids navigate life (thirteen-plus-years, in fact). That’s the reason I’m in this business–if anyone can benefit from the words I put to the page, then it is all worth it. I’m here for the long game, and looking forward to writing books that reach people in surprising ways.
