          Sample: I turned and could see Melody standing behind her brother in the doorway. She was looking back as what appeared to be smoke was starting to work its way out of the busted back windows. As it reached her, she started coughing and dry heaving. She pushed her brother out of the back door toward me, and she quickly moved after him. I ran to them, and after only a few feet, I could tell what the smoke really was. My eyes began to water, and there was a burning tingle in the back of my throat.

          Sample: Melody and her brother, who had been standing right there, went with me to find John and Randy. We told them of the plan to find a more defensible position, then with them in tow, we set out to go look for one. I suggested that Melody and her brother stay, but they didn’t seem to mind going. We started at the top of the hill, cresting it slowly to make sure that there wasn’t an army of soldiers and Welders waiting on the other side. To my great relief, there wasn’t.
