Teaser for the first chapter of Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man :
Dr. Kafka: We used synthesized transfer R.N.A. to encode an entirely new genome, combing the genetic information from all three spiders, into these fifteen genetically designed "super" spiders. Part of the process of their creation, actually involved some testing with different levels of radiation and how much they could survive--
Liz : There's fourteen.
Dr. Kafka: I beg your pardon?
Liz: One's missing.
Liz points to one of the central cases in the middle of the display as the good doctor walks over to inspect it. She looks at the case and sees that the high schooler is in fact correct. One was indeed missing.
Dr. Kafka: I guess the researchers are working on that one.
Above the students, above the many lab coats and machinery, computers and many other things, a small web sat the corner of the ceiling right above the display cases. And in that web, the missing spider twiddled about in its parlor. A small, yet predatory creature, with eight legs, eight eyes and a unique neon red and pale blue coloration. The tips of its mandibles and legs, seemed to glow just the tiniest bit. Likely a form of bioluminescence. Or something more. All the spider knew at that moment is that it was hungry and soon, it would choose one of the many large beings that walked below to feed on.
