IMO the first chapter should be quite normal, where readers see the MCs stasis state, where they and the characters aren’t living up to their full potential. Once you show that, I think you can move on :). In fact! Go to the website www.eadeverell.com/plot-formulas/ and then go down to The One Page Nobel by Eva Deverell, I’ve found that article (and she has a video explaining it in depth) have been CRUCIALLY important for me. Like the best that I’ve ever had! Good luck and happy writing!
