I'm a bit of a character. My hometown is the Smithsonian Institution, so my sci-fi background is pretty intense. Some experiences include: bitten by a shark, skipped two weeks of high school to hang out with scientists in Belize, watched the final shuttle launch from outside launch control, and once in high school the administration falsely accused me of inciting a riot. I'm a fairly solemn person by nature but have a difficult time taking myself seriously, which has misled me into believing that I have a sense of humor.

Professionally, I'm one of the directors of the Iowa organization The Writers' Rooms, which meets in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor. Feel free to PM me for more information!
