"Was I just some collateral damage?" "No! You were everything to me, Mitch, and you fucking know that!" Her voice cracked like thunder. "I-God, I'm sorry." "Sorry? Is that 'sorry' supposed to fix the fact that you made me believe you were dead?" Catalina Hernández was the embodiment of a beautiful lie. Loveliness draped in silk and secrets. Her eyes, twin galaxies of rich earth and burnt honey, pulled you in like quicksand, and her lips, rose-petal soft, carried promises she was never meant to keep. She'd remained small since seventh grade, but the darkness she carried had grown far too big for her frame. It gnawed at her from the inside, a ravenous guilt with iron claws. And the cruelest act she ever committed was shattering the heart of the only man she'd ever truly loved. Mitch Rapp had once been a golden boy in a sunlit world. Now he was a man rebuilt from ashes, haunted by the phantom of the only light he'd ever known-Catalina. His frame carried more than muscle, it bore the weight of a life he no longer recognized. He was no longer living, he was surviving in ruins, a ghost of the man he'd once been. They had been written in the constellations-two halves of a whole, cursed to find each other in a world made of shattered promises. But fate had a wicked sense of humor. Love didn't guarantee survival. Even now, with pain as thick as smoke between them, the magnetic pull was undeniable. Love didn't die. It rotted slowly. Mitch Rapp 𝒙 Fem!OC © vcmqire, 2023
