Kyran Hunter knows all too well what it feels like to be six feet underground. It's simply part of the process he had to go through to become a Youngblood. And if you thought digging your way out of your own grave was hard, try being a part of the biggest group of outcasts at Irvington High - The Rogue. Despite his low social status, Kyran is convinced it will be one hell of a year when he wins a fight against the biggest guy on the football team. But upon discovering that he has ties to the Hell Hunters motorcycle gang, an anti-Youngblood group, Kyran realizes that this can lead to more trouble than he bargained for. To make matters worse, the girl Kyran has had a crush on for years, Sav, becomes a cheerleader. At least they both sold their souls to the devil (in different ways, of course). Kyran would never be caught dead wearing that uniform. Kyran finds himself stuck in the same routine of fist fights with jocks and hiding from the Hell Hunters at all costs until Sav offers him a way out. Kyran is left to decide whether securing a decent future is worth leaving behind something that has been so special to him for so long. Kyran becomes pressed for time when his best friend begins his transition into a Youngblood. He is left to wonder if his friend is strong enough to make it through the initiation process. And even if he does, he still has a higher risk of becoming a Heartless which is a fancy way of saying a remorseless killer. The Hell Hunters really have something to be angry about now.
