Tessa Hawthorn has a very mixed up life which revolves around protecting her family. And her life only gets more complicated when she meets Will, a temporarily paralysed man who opens her up to a world of new things including love, reality and the strange world of corporate business. When Tessa leaves her abusive boyfriend it seems her life is finally beginning to look like it could have a purpose. But when she loses her job and is forced to move out of her family home Tessa must branch out and make her way on her own. Taking a gruelling job with horrible hours but above average pay, Tessa begins to see a bright side to her situation until she meets William Lockridge. A man who suffers from temporary paralysis leaving him in a wheelchair and without the use of his legs. Bitter due to his condition Will seeks out every opportunity he can to play with Tessa's emotions trying to get a response. William Lockridge is the CEO of Lockridge Enterprises a title he shares with his best friend Alexander Pierce the positions they hold leave both the young men as powerful and very rich eligible bachelors, although Alex was more refined in his partying habits Will chose to both work and play equally as hard resulting in the accident which caused his temporary disability. While Will is recovering although he still attends the office regularly for important business Alex has taken on most of his responsibilities to try and aid his friends' recovery as much as he can. The story rotates around Tessa and her struggles with keeping her head above water while being plunged involuntarily into the depths of high society. A sort of love triangle/square becomes present within the story with Tessa dealing with confusing feelings for more than one man. Tessa learns not only about herself but what she is capable of doing with her life as long as she stays true to who she is.
