Author's POV
The Next Day
Taarey were in the hospital for Taani's first check up with Dr. Shilpa. They were sitting in her cabin while Dr. Shilpa was doing her work. She put the file aside and smiled at the couple,
"So, ready for your first ultrasound?"
Taarey passed each other a nervous smile before Taani nodded at her in affirmation, Rey asked hesitatingly,
"Can I also come inside?"
Shilpa smiled in assurance,
"Of course you can Mr. Singhania!"
A big grin arose on his face hearing her answer, the trio moved behind the curtains where the nurse had made all the preparations of the ultrasound before hand. She asked Taani to lie down on the bed there straight on her back. Once Taani was lying down she held Rey's hand who was standing close to her in anticipation of what awaited them. His heartbeat was racing at a high speed as if running in a marathon. Shilpa raised Taani's top a little exposing her belly, then rubbing some kind of gel on her abdomen, which passed a cold sensation on her skin, she adjusted a machine on top of her belly and started moving it around. Soon the ultrasound vision was displayed at the screen in front of them. Shilpa smiled widely finally finding what she was looking for, she looked at the couple and pointed to a black little bean sized dot on the screen.
"That's your baby!"
Tears graced their faces and Taani's hold around Rey tightened, but he was just standing there shocked and tongue-tied. His breath was hitched inside his throat when Dr. Shilpa's voice reached their ears,
"I'll give you both a moment, would you guys like to have the copies printed out for you?"
Taani nodded absent-mindedly, the doctor left them alone. Taani held his hand bringing him out of his thoughts, he looked at her with a wide smile and teary eyes, a rare combination anyone could ever have on their face. He sat beside her and kissed her forehead lovingly,
"That's my princess!"
Taani nodded at him, grinning like never before. She cupped his cheek wiping his tear away, he held her hand on his cheek and kissed it,
"Can't believe it, she is so small!"
Taani sighed laughing slightly,
"She'll grow up soon and would trouble both me and you a lot."
Taani said pouting and Rey gave her a fake stern look,
"Hey, you dare say anything about my princess okay! She has all the right to trouble me and you, apne parents ko pareshan nahi karegi to kise karegi."
Taani pouted more,
"Dekha abhi vo aayi bhi nahi or aap mujhpe gussa kar rahe ho. Jab aayegi to aap to mujhe bhul hi jaoge."
Rey laughed at her childlike complaint and said pulling her cheeks slightly,
"How can I forget my first baby. I am sure usse zyada to tum mujhe trouble karogi."
Her mouth opened in haw and she slapped his arm softly, he chuckled before kissing her forehead again. The nurse assisted her in wiping the gel off before Rey helped her down the bed and they exited the confined space and returned in Shilpa's cabin. They both sat and Shilpa smiled reading the ultrasound and her reports,
"Taani sab kuch perfect hai, your ultrasound is completely normal. But fir bhi tumhe dhyaan rakhna hoga, the first trimester or you can say the first three months are crucial. Iss time tumhe koi problem nahi hone chahiye. Have good and healthy food, do exercise and yeah no heavy lifting for you or zyada bending work bhi nahi. Nothing that causes pressure on your belly okay!"
Taarey nodded and Shilpa continued,
"There will be regular check ups for you in all your trimesters so never miss them. And yeah no travelling by flight atleast for the initial three months, it's not good for the baby. I have prepared your diet chart okay, follow it. "
Shilpa was going on and on about the instructions and Rey was listening to everything intently, Taani zoned out of the conversation and just glanced beside her to look at him who was so busy in hearing Shilpa everything. She smiled, he was already looking so concerned and caring, she couldn't wait to spend these nine months getting pampered by him.
After they were done, Taarey exited the cabin and moved out of the hospital and sat in their car. Rey drove away and held her hand all the time. A smile was as if pasted on their lips, they couldn't help but be extremely happy. Rey held her hand close to his heart and pecked it once.
Rey was driving while Taani was busy imagining her baby with them. They were at a red light when she saw a couple with their small daughter who looked like a pre-school kid, sitting at a ice cream stall and having their ice-creams chatting happily. The little girl fed her father first when she immediately started imagining them as herself and Rey along with the baby girl. Rey picked up the girl in his arms and tickled their noses together and kissed her cheek while Taani kissed her other cheek.
Here Taani's eyes widened and she looked at Rey sitting beside her in the car before she again looked at the ice cream stall, an idiotic grin plastered across her face realising she was seeing both of them in the couple. She slapped her head lightly at her stupidity before shaking her head. But she couldn't disagree that she actually loved her imagination. It was so loving, peaceful, beautiful and heavenly. Taani again looked at Rey when he started driving, he was also lost in his thoughts, the picture of the baby bean inside her belly coming in front of his eyes again and again.
He just couldn't wait for all her ultrasounds to come soon. He couldn't wait for his baby to come soon. He was driving when he heard Taani's voice,
"Rey stop the car!"
He immediately parked the car aside and turned to her,
"What happened Taani?"
She was grinning looking at something outside and pointed out,
"Rey dekhiye barf ka gola, pelase mujhe khana hai."
Rey sighed at her childishness and said sternly,
"Nahi Taani, abhi doctor ne kaha na sirf healthy khana khana hai. No barf ka gola for you!"
She frowned at him and said whining,
"But Rey ek gole mein kuch nahi hoga, please na please please!"
But he was adamant that she won't get it. She huffed crossing her arms,
"Kal to itni badi badi baatein kar rahe the, I will fulfil all your cravings and all but ek barf ke gole ke liye man kar rahe ho ab. Huh!"
Rey sighed keeping his head on the steering wheel, he thought,
So mood swings and cravings has started! Just Great Rey! Ab ready ho ja beta tu.
Giving up he raised his head and hands in surrender,
"Okay fine jaan! Chalo, tumhara barf ka gola khate hain."
A grin came back on her face in a second and he was shocked at her sudden mood change, without waiting for him she kissed his cheek shrieking,
"Thank you Rey, you are the best hubby!"
And before he knew, she exited the car and was skipping to the cart happily. He shook his head before himself coming out of the car and walked up to her.
"Bhaiya ek kaala khatta banana."
Taani told the vendor smiling at Rey, she looked at him to ask what he wants but he denied to have anything. Taani got her gola and she happily slurped it like a child making faces. She moaned slurping on the delight forgetting everything and Rey smiled at his crazy childlike woman. She was having her delight forgetting everything around her. He felt a burst of pride inside of him when he realised she was so happy because of him, that he agreed to her having the chuski and he vowed he would make all the moments of her pregnancy and her life special and will keep her happy and smiling like this. The smile and glow on her face meant everything for him, he didn't want anything else in life if he has that wide smile on her face.
He just watched her having the best time of her life, enjoying herself again falling in love with her maybe for the hundredth time now!
