Chapter One

I shade my eyes as I step out of the shop. Lexi Garner, my best friend, steps out behind me.
"We really should go to a better place to find dresses"
"You know we can't afford more than that," I say.
"Well it wouldn't hurt to look"
As we walk to the car, a car pulls up right beside us and the window rolls down. The woman inside looks ancient.
"Do you young ladies know were in the tarnation we are?"
"Um, mam you're in a car," says Lexi.
I whack her in the back of the head. "She means what city or street. I think she knows-"
"Th-thank you ladies"
The woman hits the gas pedal and drives off leaving tire marks on the asphalt. Lexi is gone.
