While Harry and Reborn were planning on how to train their kids, Lal was having trouble with getting the rings. She wondered if she'll ever be able to get the rings, it looks like the curse was more thoroughly thought out than they had first thought. Lal had to watch over her boss as well, he had become more jumpy and wary for an unknown reason. She half wondered if his intuition was playing havoc on his mind, she was having a meeting with Iemitsu's Guardians right now for this reason.
Lal, "Iemitsu will be here soon. You all noticed how exhausted and jumpy our foolish Sky has been the last few weeks. Has he told you anything?"
Oregano looked at Turmeric, "No, nothing, but he jumped when I called him earlier."
Turmeric, "He also looked very frustrated with something, and angry while going through some of the papers he needed to sign."
Basil wrung his hands, "Godfather has not told me anything and I was supposed to go on a mission to Canada, but he refused saying it was a risk he could not afford right now. He also said I was not even supposed to be on that mission but going to Japan instead."
Lal frowned, "I was not told you were being sent to Canada. I'll have to talk to Iemitsu about this."
Iemitsu walked in, "Talk to me about what Lal?"
Lal, "Basil was about to be sent to Canada? I was not informed about it."
Iemitsu nodded, "There is something strange going on and I'm not sure what or who is doing it."
Lal looked him over, "You idiot when was the last time you slept."
Iemitsu waved Lal off, "I'm fine Lal. I had one hour of sleep."
Basil eyed him worriedly, "Godfather... You don't look well."
Iemitsu sighed, "I was looking into Massimo's death."
Lal, "What? What for?"
Iemitsu, "Well, first of all, I fear for when my son gets here. Second, his death was unnatural, no matter how you look at it. Third, I don't want whoever killed Massimo to go after my son."
Basil, "Ah! That makes sense."
Iemitsu, "Speaking of which, I found out what happened to your parents, Basil."
Basil looked up, "Godfather?"
Oregano, "Iemitsu?"
Turmeric, "That's why you always left. I thought you were resting, boss!!!!"
Iemitsu looked at the couple sheepishly, before turning to the youngest, "They were killed plain and simple."
Basil was taken aback, "What?"
Lal narrowed her eyes, "There's more to it, isn't it?"
Iemitsu nodded, "Estraneo, I'm sure of it and also the Vales from Canada. I would not be surprised if they were behind the request either for Basil to be sent to Canada."
Basil, "They want to manipulate me emotionally, don't they? Feeding me half clues and then making me think Vongola is my enemy."
Iemitsu sighed, "That's the plan I can see being used here. Also the Vales were the ones to land the finishing blow on Massimo. How come no one found out about that baffles me."
Lal cursed under her breath, "This lapse in security cannot be left unhandled. It would be easy to go in and out of Vongola in this manner."
Iemitsu grimaced, "I know."
Lal, "What else Iemitsu? Talk to us."
Iemitsu, "Lately my intuition has gone haywire. Like it's trying to warn me someone is trying to kill me or something. I have not seen anyone suspicious but then again I might be missing the most obvious clue."
Lal nodded, "The Vongola's infamous intuition. I have seen how it works for your son. I would advise you to listen to it. Hell, Verde had a ball with it and took a lot pleasure figuring out how it worked."
Iemitsu's left eyebrow had twitched up at that Arcobaleno's name in annoyance. He would be lying if he said he was not jealous of another adult getting close to his children. It was not like he could blame his kids for it, Verde was a genius, his potions helped save many of his men out there in the field. Hell those horrible tasting potions helped him get back to work and heal his legs faster than any other treatment. But dammit he was allowed to be jealous, they were his children, he, Iemitsu should have been the one spending time with them, not Verde or Reborn for that matter. Lal's lips twitched in amusement seeing the flash of envy cross his eyes when she mentioned her Arcobaleno partner's name.
Lal, "You should seriously listen to your intuition Iemitsu. It is highly possible someone might try getting rid of you because Tsuna happens to be your son. He may be annoyed by the fact you are barely home but anyone with eyes could tell he really cares about you."
Iemitsu gave a goofy smile, "My Tuna is just too shy to show his feelings, isn't he cute?"
Basil sweat dropped, "Of course he is, Godfather."
Iemitsu's became serious, "But what you said is a good point. Tsuna is not a cold hearted person and seeing a family member die could affect him very badly. I will be careful, don't worry."
Lal, "Now Iemitsu, on to the real reason of this meeting. I'm taking you to Namimori."
Iemitsu brightened before his face fell, "I don't know if that is a good idea Lal. Especially with how things are right now."
Lal, "Basil is coming with so don't worry about it."
Basil, "Is there a reason why we are going to Japan, teacher Lal?"
Lal, "Three reasons, first, this baka needs a break, second, you need to meet your Godbrothers, third, there are a few things I need getting done there."
Iemitsu, "What are those things?"
Lal, "Arcobaleno things."
Turmeric, "You should go boss, we can handle it here."
Oregano, "Yeah, who knows maybe your intuition will calm down and let you sleep. Don't think we did not notice your lack of sleep!"
Iemitsu, "Eh he he he he he? I'm fine you all, I promise."
Lal humped before finally ending the meeting and they left to their own stations at the headquarters. She had some planning to do and had to talk to Viper first, she wondered how they were handling everything in the Varia, she had not seen them since the vacation at the beach. She sighed going to their meeting place where no one else went and waited for her fellow Arcobaleno to come.
Viper, "Lal."
Lal, "Viper, you are here."
Viper sat across her, "You look exhausted, my friend."
Lal, "I feel exhausted as well, the last few days has been very exhausting."
Viper nodded, "Join the club."
Lal looked at them, "You told the Varia about it then? The curse?"
Viper nodded, "It went as well as it could with those lunatics."
Flashback:
Viper, "Now that everyone is here, I'll tell you why we are having this meeting."
Squalo, "Voiii, it better be good reason shitty Mist."
Belphegor, "Ushi shi shi shi shi shi! The Prince doesn't like being disturbed."
Levi, "What is it Master Mist?"
Lussuria, "Whatever it is, I'm sure it is important."
Fran, "Just get on with it."
Viper nodded and proceeded to explain the Arcobaleno curse first before explaining the presence of two other curses. They had proceeded to explain, how it was originally meant to be a punishment for wrong doers but because of how information got lost over time started to be viewed as something necessary. And the Arcobalenos were never to be created unless people did something unforgivable even by death. After that they proceeded to explain the deep rooted connection between the Arcobaleno's curse and the Vongola rings. They went into as much details as possible and explained what they could to them. The rest of them were quiet before they started to shout and curse at the information bomb.
Fran, "Dammit, I liked it more when you charged for the information Mist. Free information from you is fucking nightmarish."
Belphegor growled, "The Prince officially hates free things."
Squalo, "Voiiiiiiii! What the shit, shitty Mist? When did you find out about this?"
Levi, "I'll go check on Xanxus."
Lussuria, "Alright dear, and I agree with the others. What the fuck, Viper? Did the boss know about this?"
Viper sighed, "We, as in the Arcobalenos only learned about this two years ago. We are trying to work on a reverse cure but."
Lussuria got up, "I see, if you need something Viper we are here!"
Squalo, "Voi shitty Mist, you really are a costly Guardian aren't you?"
Belphegor, "Shi shi shi shi shi shi shi. The Prince forbids you for giving anymore free information."
Viper's lips twitched in amusement, "Of course Bel, but I'm afraid this affects all of us, so it is prudent you knew. I'm a bit surprised you believe my supernatural tale."
Fran snorted, "You are a cursed human, what's there not to believe? I say you are more than enough proof curses exists. Now what do we do about the boss? He'll want to know about this..... He's going to lose his shit when he learns the reason for Federico's death. He may not have been close to the other two but Federico."
Viper sighed before explaining the plans that the Arcobalenos had hatched to help Xanxus and what the Vongola was planning. The second one got another round of cursing, they were a lot of things but child killers were not one of them. They pitied the civilian child and wished him luck.
Flashback end!
Viper gave a wry smile, "It went as well as it could all things considered, they are not going on suicide missions hunting Checkerface down."
Lal snorted, "It would be right up their alley to go on a lunatic mission like that. How are you handling things with Xanxus?"
Viper, "Thanks to Harry's suggestions I think we might be able to thaw my Sky out soon."
Lal, "Well that's one good news."
Viper looked at his fellow Arcobaleno, "It's the only thing keeping the rest of the Varia from doing something stupid. They know if someone finds out about it, it'll be troublesome for them."
Lal nodded before talking more about the details of the plan regarding Xanxus, where he'll be taken for the thawing and through which route they will be leaving when the time comes. Lal could give them a hand in covering their tracks if she knew all the details. Viper shared their plans of leaving Italy at the end of summer and Lal nodded to indicate she understood.
Lal, "Things are going to get hectic soon."
The next few days were spent in finalising everything and getting as much paperwork done as possible as Lal didn't want to worry about paperwork while doing her job. Her Sky on the other hand had decided to surprise his family and visit them without telling them he was coming and had a goofy smile on his face as he finished his work. For someone who was part of the higher echelons of Mafia, Lal could honestly say lemitsu enjoyed the homey things more. They left the CEDEF to Oregano and Turmeric and left for Japan under the guise of a mission to scout out potentials.
Tsuna was surprised to see his father before he smiled, "I'm happy you made it Dad, I would have been very angry if you missed Sora and Kayeta's birthday another time."
Iemitsu sweated a bit because he had forgotten, "Of course Tuna - tan, I would not forget. I'm sorry, I missed so many moments."
Tsuna, "Well you are here now so that's all that matters really."
Harry simply smiled from the back, Tsuna was starting to forgive his father and he hoped Iemitsu does not mess it up. He helped Nana with the decorations and food while the kids played around with each other. The twins decided their father needed to make up for the time he had lost and started a prank war, which Harry confined to outside or else they are not getting any of his cake. Things would get worse before it got better, Harry would know after all he had been through it once before.
