You never saw the other car coming. A drunk driver who forgot to put on her lights, hit you in the side.
She was going way over the speed limit, you didn't stand a chance. The impact caused the car to flip, to trap you inside of the metal cage. Your conscience slipping away slowly as the paramedics arrived.
And now you're laying in a hospital bed, with your friend sitting right next to you, holding your hand. You have a tube down your throat to help you breathe, you're hooked up to so many machines. It's a miracle if you even make it out.

You open your eyes, slowly making them adjust to the faint light. You try to sit up but fail miserably.
You clutch your head. The pounding in your brain getting worse the longer you lift your head up to see your surroundings.
'Y/n...' a familiar voice echoes through the room. A blurry figure comes into view, and when your vision corrects itself, your eyes go big.
'Mr. Evans?' You ask and he frowns.
'Who?' He asks confused. 'My name is Steve Rogers, Y/n you know this, we've been teammates since forever...'
'Wha...' you don't get to finish your word, because the room slowly starts to fill with the avengers, and not the actors but the real deal.
'Do you remember anything sweetie?' Natasha asks.
'I remember a car crash, I was just driving down the road and.. I got hit..'
Natasha turns to Tony, worry and confusion lacing her features.
'Y/n, you were on a mission when Hydra fired at you, they hit you in the legs, you've been in a coma for over two months now...' Tony explains.
'Then... I guess.. it will come back to me...some day.. I...'
'Now, let's just be glad you're back, we will worry about this later...' Bruce smiles and you nod, still no smile on your face, just worry.

'Do you need any help y/n?' The nurse asks and you shake your head.
'I want to try and walk on my own now thank you...' you smile at her.
You haven't been able to stand on your own, let alone walk, but you figured today, you'd give it a go, how bad can it be?
You needed to learn how to walk again like a child. It was a big punch in your gut but you pulled through. With a little help, you can make it through the compound.
In the few months you've been here, you start to remember tiny bits and pieces from this life, you remember the team shouting at you, but still flashes of the car hitting you in the side remain.
As you walk on, lost in thoughts, you don't see Loki coming your way. You and him have been quite fond of each other lately.
'Y/n!' He says happily making you look up and loose balance at the same time.
You stumble over your own feet and he rushes to you to prevent you from hitting the ground too hard.
'Careful love...' he holds you by your arms and you chuckle.
'Thank you Loki...' you smile at him.
'I actually was looking for you... I wanted to ask if you would join me for dinner... this evening?'
'I...I..' you stutter, the words you want to say don't make it past your lips. You're just surprised.
'It is completely fine if you won't... what was I thinking..' he keeps muttering those ugly words to himself and you stop by putting a hand to his cheek,
'I would love to...' you smile at him. You hop closer before planting a sweet kiss to his cheek. 'I like you Loki.'
And from there, everything changed. You fell in love with him, you became a couple. You started going on missions together.
Nobody knew the secret that Loki was carrying, the secret that you had secretly swapped bodies with the actual Y/n form this universe. The one from this universe was no longer amongst the living, and the gap that the alternate you left was too great, Loki had to have some sort of closure. So he made up an illusion, just so he could have you back and properly put an end to it.
Now there's one problem, he will have to create another illusion to shift you back into place. And it won't be pleasant. You have to die again, so that you can wake up on the other side. This is going to take its toll on the team.

'Loki?, are you okay?' You ask holding onto his hand a little tighter.
'Yes my love... I am perfectly fine...' he's full on lying, he has to watch you die all over again, but at least now he had the time to properly say goodbye to you.
'Y/n..' he turns to you. 'I love you so much... I hope you knew that...'
'I love you equally... maybe even more...' you reply.
'I am sorry for what I am about to do... and what I did already.. I just needed to see you one more time..to try and get closure...'
'What are you talking about? Loki you're scaring me.. what's going on?'
'I... the real you.. the one from this universe died while on a mission, and I couldn't bare it... and when I was angry I accidentally saw you, and you're just like her... I know it's selfish..'
'It is... but you needed closure Loki, didn't you? ... I will be more than happy to provide you just that... I know you love her very much... and she must be crazy if she doesn't love you even more... I am not her.. but I can still feel how much she loves you..'
'You're both amazing...'
'So what are you going to do that you're sorry for in the future?'
'I have to kill you...'
'Oh... wow... I definitely didn't see that one coming... geez...' You blow out some air as you put your hands to your sides. 'Well I guess this is it then...'
'Yes, I'm afraid so...'
'I do know one thing, when I get back in my world.. it's going to be hard to find someone as kind and sweet as you are...'
He smiles at you, you turn to him and you wrap your arms around him.
'Goodbye Loki...I love you...'
'Goodbye Y/n.. and be careful love...'
'I will...'

You startle awake, the monitors going crazy with blaring alarms as your friend jerks out of her seat yourself.
'Nurse!, nurse!' She yells. 'Y/n!, Y/n!'
You can hear her, but it's from far away. Your head is pounding and your eyes definitely needs to adjust to the light first.
'Miss, lay back for me please...Miss?, can you hear me?' The nurse asks and the moment you swallow, your hearing gets fully restored.
You nod and lay back against your pillow. Your best friends hand still holding onto yours. Your eyes find hers and you give her a soft smile before using your croaking voice. 'I have so much to tell you...'
'I still can't believe you got the privilege to be killed by the one and only Loki of Asgard...'
'I know right?, even if it was just a dream, it was an amazing one..'
'So let's say this was real..hypothetically..do you think he will be okay?'
'Who Loki?' You ask with a sly smirk on your face, she obviously believes you.
'No Santa...YES LOKI!'
'I think so... he got closure... I hope he did.. else I might have to go back again...'
'Let's just wait and see first, I don't think I'll survive you almost dying on me again...' she grins and you chuckle. 'Speaking of dying...'
'NOOO, I don't want to no!, you'll run off on me again!'
'I promise I won't... he was just really nice and you basically dated one of the hottest fictional characters in the world so I wanted a shot at the cute male nurse.. I promise I won't do it again...' She drags you out of bed and helps you stand.
Apparently the story in this universe is that your legs got stuck, so they had to use some incredible force to pull them out... they damaged them so badly that you again had to learn how to walk.
'Come on y/n!' She coos as you go down the hallway.
'Hey F/n!' The male nurse calls out.
'Oh no...' you mutter already expecting your best friend to go over, but she waits and tests your water a little bit.
You shake your head with a smile. 'Go...'
She carefully lets go and rushes over while you're left in the hallway all by yourself.
You take a few steps and it actually goes pretty well. You smile when you take more steps, you're basically walking on your own! That is until you stumble over your own feet.
You close your eyes and wait for the impact with the cold and hard floor, but it doesn't happen. You feel two hands wrap around your arms and pulling you up. 'Careful love...'
'Loki?' You ask as your eyes shoot open.
'Not quite... but I do admit that he is my alter ego...' the man in front of you jokes.
'I'm so sorry, it's just... the voice and all.. I know you're the actor..' you laugh.
He chuckles with you and you swear you see a green glint go over his eyes for a sweet moment.
'It's so weird, i feel like I know you from somewhere...' Tom comments.
'That would be strange... I don't remember ever seeing you outside of my tv screen actually...'
'I've never done this before.. especially so soon after meeting someone, but would you like to grab a coffee down the hall with me?'
'It would be rude to decline after you just saved me from another couple of weeks in the hospital..but I do have one question...'
'Go ahead..' he smiles as he ticks your arm under his and starts walking with you again at a snail like pace.
'Why are you here?, in a hospital?'
'We were actually planning on visiting you... because you're a fan and your friend really stalked marvel...'
'Well that's typical f/n..' You shrug.
'And you know what's even more strange... the rest also feels like they've seen you before... as in a friends way...'
A small smirk can't help but play on your lips. Loki. Of course he would make sure you were still connected to the team somehow.
'Everything alright love?'
'Yes.. everything is perfect...'

'Brother have you seen-' Loki stops in his tracks when he sees a woman standing in the room of his brother. She has y/h/c hair and the same suit as y/n had.
She turns around with a bright smile. 'Loki...' she grins.
'Y/n?, but, how?, what, huh?' He stutters and she shakes her head a little as she walks up to him and places a comforting hand in his cheek.
'I'm here... when you took that other girl, she fuelled me... unknowingly but still... I needed time to heal but Loki... I'm here.. again...'
'Y/n..' is all he can say as he wraps his arms around the woman, burying his face in her neck.
She gently pushes him until he can see her again. 'I love you... don't ever doubt that again...' she speaks before pressing her lips against his.
